Understanding thyroid tests

Just some help with understanding thyroid tests! Every single organ, muscle, and cell in the body rely on adequate thyroid hormone levels. Thyroid hormone acts as the body’s metabolic regulator. In a hypothyroid state the thyroid is not releasing enough hormones to meet the metabolic demands of the body. The thyroid gland secretes two major hormones T4 (Thyroxine) and T3 (Triiodothyronine). The thyroid produces more T4 than it does T3. Around 80% T4 and 20% T3 but T3 hormone is much more active in the body(about 300% more) and the main hormone that increases metabolism in cells. Also, the majority of T4 is converted into T3 inside of the cells.

Lots of people do not properly convert T3 in their body. While so many doctors will only test TSH and T4 make sure you are at the very least getting all 3 tested. How can you have a full picture of what is happening without knowing all the levels.
